Watch for our wake

Several major ocean yachting races start in the US and finish here. The Newport to Bermuda Race, which begins in Rhode Island, brings more than 100 ships into our harbour.

Imagine cheering as powerboats race across our blue waters and sailors struggle with the wind. You can do both on our shores, all throughout the year. Boating events are especially popular here, combining our maritime history and competitive spirit.

Power Boat Racing
Sunny weekends (in other words, all weekends) are an ideal time to observe power boat races on one of our stretches of stunningly clear water.

  • The season runs from May through mid-November
  • Closed Circuit Races alternating with offshore races every other Sunday at Ferry Reach in St. George’s Parish
  • Marathons held periodically

Sailing Races
Every year, hundreds of sailors race into our picturesque marinas as fast as possible. Set up onshore and watch the dramatic finish.

  • Year-round races are found in the Hamilton Harbour and Great Sound areas
  • Races are held every third Sunday year-round and Wednesday evenings in the summer
  • Fitted dinghies begin racing in late May and continue every other Sunday until mid-September
